QuestionLast year I had a shed / art studio built in my garden. Behind my fence is a beautifull pink cherry tree. Although I told the builders to be extra carefull of the roots of the tree - it would appear they were not as carefull as I hoped. This is the second year that the tree has not flowered. Cement was used for the ground work of my studio. Will this have completely killed the tree? I do not know the measurements or how deep the cement went. But the tree is right behind the building. The branches are not dying or falling off - yet... Is it possible to prune the tree? What can I do? I am so upset. I read your advice about scraping the bark on the edges of the branch - which I will do, but is there any other way of bringing this beautifull tree back to life?
Thank you - Victoria
AnswerNot much that can be done except wait and see if it leafs out. Fertilizer will help the blooming for next year. If the tree leafs out fertilize it with 10-10-10 fertilizer at the rat of 1 lb per inch of trunk diameter scattered around the tree and watered in good. Do this in the Spring and again in the Fall.
