QuestionLast year we had our silver birch trimmed in our garden, this year we have recently just replanted the border, when doin a new edge on it i caused one of the roots to seep out water, is there any way of patching it up to stop it seeping water? if not what will happen to it???
AnswerThis is normal. Do not worry about it the tree will heal over the wound by itself. In the spring the trees are pulling a lot of water from the soil to aid in growing the new foliage so there can be leaking form a fresh wound. The cells around the wound will heal over without you doing anything.
