Jacarunda

Question
did anyone find out where one can be purchased in FL? Heard about this tree but where can we find it? (I am south of JAX about 60 miles)  Will it grow here?

Answer
I am not from that area so I have no experience with nurseries in Jacksonville. Here is a web link to the names of nurseries in Jacksonville. All I can suggest is to call them and ask for a  Jacaranda tree

Yes it may  grow there. Jacarandas can successfully grow wherever citrus can thrive, roughly areas that will not dip below 25 degrees F.  (The USDA calls this Hardiness Zone 9b.) They can survive as far north as Orlando. Jacksonville will be on the outer edge of its growing range but maybe worth the try. Any tree nursery should be able to get it for you if they do not have it.

Jacaranda prefers enriched sandy, well drained soils but is tolerant of most soil types. This is not a salt tolerant plant.
Light: Bright sunny conditions are preferred. This tree will tolerate some shade but will bear fewer flowers.
Moisture: Likes moisture but will tolerate some drought. Doesn't like soggy or poorly drained situations.
Hardiness: USDA Zones 9 - 11.
