QuestionDear Jim,
Good morning. I live in Medford, MA (I think zone 7a), and I would like to put 2-3 trees on my closed front porch.
The porch has windows all around (regular windows, not floor to ceiling windows), and it is sunny from morning to early afternoon, but of course in winter the temperature is more or less the outside temperature, so pretty cold, and in the summer pretty hot (the windows when open allowed a nice ventilation).
Do you think there are trees that may survive in that environment? I was thinking to Siberian pines (since they do not grow to much in high).
If you have time I would really appreciate your suggestions.
Thank you.
Fabrizia
AnswerI think you will find that a tree is not the plant for inside. They get too large. By definition a tree is a woody plant more than 15 feet tall.
Siberian pine does come in a dwarf size but this has a Height: 6 ft. to 20 ft. and a Width: 6 ft. to 20 ft. I would chose a different plant rather than a tree for the porch.
