QuestionWe just noticed our large pine tree's needles all are brown. Has the tree died over the winter or is there something we can do to save it?
AnswerIf all the needles are dead and no needles are green then I am sorry the tree is dead and will not leaf out later. Pines have two sets of needles on at a time so they will drop their old needles each year as new ones bud out in the spring but when they do there are green needles near the ends of the branches. If the needles at the ends of the branches are brown then the tree is dead.
