QuestionI LOVE THE LOOK OF GLOBES. I KNOW PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME THEY CAN BE STARTED FROM A BRANCH. CAN YOU EXPLAIN THE PROCESS TO ME. I LIVE IN PUEBLO CO. AND HAVE ACCESS TO FREE BRANCHES.
AnswerYes willows root easily. Take a cutting from second year twigs about 12 inches long. Dip the ends in a rooting hormone and place in wet sand. Or they do well in water also. I would try both methods (water and wet sand). You can rooting hormone from any nursery. They may do better before the willow leafs out in the spring.
After it gets a good root system gentlely remove from the rooting medium and plant out where you want it.
