QuestionHello Jim,
Can you tell me the correct time of year and correct way to prune a peach tree and a pecan tree?
Thanks,
Christine
AnswerHere is a web site on pruning peach trees http://www.ext.vt.edu/pubs/treefruit/422-020/422-020.html
Mature pecan trees are usually not pruned unless you want to cut some of the lower branches that are too low to walk under and in this case they can be removed in the dormant season before leaf out.
Young pecan trees can be pruned to create a good shape. Here is a web link to this method. http://cahe.nmsu.edu/pubs/_h/h-605.html
