Questionsome leaves have what looks like a green worm growing on them. some leaves
only have a few but others have many. they stand up off the leaf but look like
they are growing out of the leaf.
AnswerAre these attached to the leaf and are they an insect that will move if touched or if touched do not move. Usually the leaves will have been eaten or there will be hole eaten in the leafg. If it is an insect you can spray the leaves with liquid Sevin and this will kill the insect.
If it does not move than it is a gall formed by an tiny wasp. They will lay their eggs on the leaf and secrete a chemical that will cause the leaf cells to expand over the egg leaving a gall. They come in many shapes some look like the leaves has spikes sticking out. If this is what it is they will cause no real health problem to the tree and no treatment is needed. I lean toward this being the problem.
A picture would help if you have on. It can be attach to the question.
