QuestionHi Jim
I live in South Dakota. We would like to plant some white birch trees and need some advice on the best way to do that. A couple questions..... are they fast growing trees? how big is does the root system get? We have a acre lot plenty of space could you suggest best way to determine and what you have to take into consideration for the best tree placement
AnswerThey are classified as medium growth rate and have a height of 20-35 feet and a spread of 15-29 feet. The roots will spread about 1 1/2 times the foliage width. As long as the tree is in the sun and not over a septic line you should have no problem with the tree. It likes sun and the roots can get into septic lines.
