Question
I just received this tree as a gift,how deep a hole do I need and should I put lyme in hole first with some good potting soil mix? How much do I water the tree right away or use some type of plant food?  Thank You, Dena

The hole should be as deep as the pot the tree is in and twice the width. Fill with good top soil or potting soil. (remove it from the pot) Plant it the same depth as the pot --the pot even with the ground. If it is in burlap remove the burlap before planting. Mulch around the tree with not more than 3 inches deep of organic mulch not piled up on the trunk. Water every other day for a couple of weeks and then every third day if it does not rain. I would use about a gallon of water each time on a tree this small. Do not fertilize for a year and lime is not needed in the hole.
