QuestionI am on a farm 10 miles from Hempstead, Texas 77484. This place is West of Houston, TExas. We have not had rain for at least 45 days now.
I recently purchased two water oaks from a well established nursery. They were in containers of 30 to 40 gallons. I planted them on the west side of the house by digging holes, putting in mulch from around the same source nursery. The trees are about 13' tall and properly staked from three sides to eliminate wind pressure.
The men from the nursery planted the trees with small levys around the hole so that when watered the tree would have some 4 inches of water around it. I was told to water twice per day until the water stood 4 inches deep. then water one time per day. I have owned these trees for 18 days now. They are starting to show several brown leaves throughout.
What might be the proper treatment at this time.
Thanks for your attention

AnswerI would continue the once a day watering unless it rains for a week or so then change to every third day. The tree will have some die back from the shock of planting especially this late in the year. Sounds like everything was done correctly as far as the planting they are just suffering from the heat and drought.
