QuestionWe live in Northern Virginia and have a 3-year old willow oak that was thriving and had tremendous growth in full sun in our yard. However, this year the tree did not bud and has not produced any leaves. The branches are still green on the inside. Do you have any suggestions to save our tree?
AnswerAbout all that can be done is insure the root system has enough water--place a pan under the tree and turn the sprinkler on and when the pan has 1 inch of water in it stop. Do this every third day unless it rains. If it is still alive it should leaf out in a couple of weeks.
