QuestionI recently planted a surinam cherry tree in my backyard. I was told they love direct sunlight and I had just the right spot for it. Now the leaves seems to be wrinkling up and it looks dry and on the verge of death. What can I do for my tree? It gets watered 2 times a week via sprinkler and during the week if it has been very hot. Am I watering it too much or not enough? Thanks for your help.
AnswerSounds like shock from the planting. It sprinkler system is ok for the lawn but is not getting enough water to the tree. If you have not done so mulch around the tree with not more then 3 inches of organic mulch and water every third day with 1 inch of water (place a pan under the tree and turn the sprinkler on and when the pan has 1 inch of water in it stop. Do this for the next 4 weeks and then water every week using the same method.
