QuestionI HAD THREE COLO BULE SPURCE TREES MOVED IN LAST FALL ABOUT 7-8 FOOT TALL ITS NOW MARCH AND HAVE SEEN SOME OF THE LIMBS AT THE BOTTOM ARE TURNING BROWN AND LINMBS ARE GETTING BARE. IS THIS NORMAL OR DO I HAVE A PROBLEM? IF SO WHAT CAN I DO TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM? THANK YOU
AnswerThis sounds like stress from the move. This spring as long as there is new growth on the ends of the branches there is no problem. A tree this large will loose some of its needles in the lower crown. Make sure it gets water when it does not rain fro a week or so. Water with 1 inch of water at a time (place a pan under the tree and turn the sprinkler on and when the pan has 1 inch of water in it stop). Do not fertilize the tree for a year after planting.
