QuestionI have two magnolia trees in the front yard of my Dallas home. One is growing well over the last five years that I have lived there. The other has not grown much at all. I think it was not planted properly by the original owner of the house. Should I have someone replant that tree or try a root stimulator? Thanks, AM
AnswerAbout all that can be done for a tree this size (over 5 years old) is mulch around the tree with not more than 3 inches deep of organic mulch and fertilize with 10-10-10 fertilizer at the rate of 1 lb per inch of trunk diameter scattered around the tree and watered in good.
It would be too large a project and you would damage too many roots to replant it now.
