Bradford Pear dormant winter care

Question
I received a Bradford Pear tree about 4 feet tall.  It is unplanted and appears to be dormant.  I want to know how to care for it through the winter and when to plant it in the state of MO.  It came with no directions or information.  I appreciate the help.

Answer
Since MO. is already in a freezing state I would wait until spring to plant the tree. Keep it in a non heated area (non heated garage etc.) and water once a week to keep the roots moist. In the spring after the last freeze. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball an as deep Fill any excess in the hole with a good potting soil. Mulch around the tree with not more then 3 inches of mulch and water. Plant the top of the root ball even with the ground surface.

If you get a warm spell this winter and the ground is not frozen you could go ahead and plant then.
