QuestionHi Jim,
I live in Phoenix Arizona and I have a Raywood Ash Tree that I bought about 2 months ago, I was told to water every day for the 1st 3 months and then 3 times a week after that. The leaves are starting to droop should I cut back on the watering, also as a rule how should I be watering?
AnswerI would cut make to the three times a week (about every third day would be ok). Water with 1 inch of water each time--place a pan under the tree and turn the sprinkler on and when the pan has 1 inch of water in it stop. This will give a deeper watering and the roots will grow deeper. If you have not done it mulch around the tree with not more than 3 inches deep of mulch keeping it off the trunk itself. This mulch will help hold the moisture.
