QuestionI have heard rumors of a poison that is painted on the newly cut trunk of scrub oak. Is this true?
I am clearing land for fire protection purposes around a home. I plan to cut the scrub oak as close as possible to the ground and then poison it so it doesn't regrow a new shoot off the still healthy root system.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.
AnswerPaint the fresh stump with a herbicide called Roundup. The Roundup will be taken up by the stump and transported to the root system killing the roots and the tree will not sprout. Roundup will kill any green plant so make sure it does not get on any plant not wanted to be killed.
