QuestionI have several trees in one gallon pots. Can I put pot and all in the ground untill spring or repot to a three gallon pot or should I put them in the ground & transplant in the spring. My location is in the Rockey Mountain Trench just south of Glacier National Park.
AnswerI would leave them as is until the spring and then take the Tree out of the pot and plant it. make the new hole twice the size of the pot and plant as deep as the ground level in the pot. fill with good potting soil and mulch and water. Keep the pot in a place out of the freezing weather but not in a heated area--maybe a garage or out building . water all winter.
