QuestionWe live in Ferris,TX which is just south of Dallas and our baby bald cypress seems to already be dying. It was plated in January by our home builders and it seemed to be doing great at first, but we had a couple of storms and it was uprooted twice. The roots weren't broken se we replanted it and the trunk is still alive but it seems the leaves and branches are dying. They keep turning brown and hard and fall off. There's barely and green leaves at all on it. Is our tree really dead even though the trunk is alive? Please help us save our baby bald cypress, it's right infront of our house and we're excited at how beautiful it's going to make my home.
thank you,
Stephanie
AnswerSounds like with all the root problems of up rooting and the stress of the planting the tree did not survive. The new houses here are under a warrantee for a year this includes the trees and shrubs planted by the builder. I would contact the builder and tell him the tree died and you would like a replacement.
I do not think the one you have will survive. It is time to replace the tree. When you do make sure the hole that is dug is about twice the size of the rootball and fill with good top soil and mulch around the tree with not more than 3 inches deep of organic mulch (pine straw, bark, etc not rock)
