How do you destroy Sassafras trees in the yard?  They are very young trees and a lot of them.

Well first of all it depends on how small the "very young trees" are. If they are small and can be cut with a lawn mower I would suggest cutting them close and keep them cut and over time the root system will run out of energy and stop sprouting. If they are larger you will need to use a herbicide on them to kill the root system. I would recommend roundup. It can be sprayed on the foliage of the trees and the tree will transport the herbicide to the roots. BUT beware anything green that the roundup hit will be killed. One way to direct the chemical is to put it on a cloth and wipe the foliage of the trees being careful not to wet any other plant. Roundup can be found at any garden type store.
