Question
My neighbor has a pine tree planted in his backyard about three feet from our fence. The tree is about 50ft tall and the roots have now come under the fence and into my yard. I want to plant a bunch of shrubs but cannot get shovel into ground due to all the large roots, as well as lots of smaller ones. If i chop them up and spray roundup on them will it kill the roots ? Will roundup on the roots kill the redwood tree ? Thanks

You can cut the roots on your side of the fence but if you spray roundup on them more than likely the pine will die. The roots will take the roundup into the whole root system and kill the tree. I would just cut the roots and the most that would happen would be the tree may lose a few branches on that side.
