I have a freind here in CA asking about poplar tree seeds to take back to Uganda for his farm ? can you help or advise ?  Bill

Scientifically he will not have a problem with growing the seeds but I would check with the custom folks and see if it is legal to transport the seeds out of the country. He will need to place the seeds in the refrigerator in a plastic bag with peat moss for three months before planting them. This will what we call stratify the seeds and make them germinate. Then in the spring plant them in small pots in a good planting medium (good potting soil) not deeper than 1/2 inch. When they get large enough say 10 inches they can be transplanted into larger pot until they reach about 18 24 inches tall then planted out. I hope this answers your question.
