http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fig shows fig leaves which are quite unremarkable in their shape and quite different from the kind divided into three sections which I thought was the traditional fig leaf. Are these different species, I wonder?

AnswerThere are 800 different species in the genera Ficus or fig trees. The one in the picture is Ficus religiosa. One of the ones with fruit and lobed leaves is called Common fig, Ficus carica. Some ficus trees are used as an inside plant for decoration. On the right side of the web page you sited is a list of some of the 800 species.
