Question
The tree, bark and leaves look healthy.  Good coloring, new growth, etc. but the leaves are curling.  We have had a lot of humid weather in NY as well as a lot of rain in condensed time periods.  Can our weather conditions be the reason for the curling leaves?

I would say the weatther conditions are the cause--I think you have had near record high temperatures along with the humidity. One good thing anything affecting the leaves of hardwood this late in the season will not usually  kill the tree but it may cause it to defoliate early. The sympthoms you list are more weather than a disease or insect problems.
