QuestionI live in the LA area and my husband and I are considering buying a home. I have been reading all the liquid amber tree questions and have one of my own, because I too saw the Discovery Channel's program on houses. The current owners of the home we are considering planted a liuid amber tree approximately 5 years ago. It is about 12-15 feet high, and probably no more that 5-6 feet in diameter. It is planted approximately 8-10 feet from the house. Will I be able to remove it safely from the yard?
AnswerYes a tree that small size can be cut fairly easily. And since it is 8-10 feet from the house I would recommend that you remove it now beford the roots spread and could damage the foundation. (Usually it is best to have them planted 30 feet away from the house). If you have not bought the house as yet I would suggest you write into the contract that the present owner remove the tree before you settle.
