Insects on pecan tree leaves

Question
My mom lives in Texas and she has something attacking her pecan tree. Something is causing little brown blisters on the leaves. What can cause this and what does she do to stop it?

Answer
Sounds like it is pecan phylloxera a small insect that makes a gall on the leaf. There are a couple of these insects and one will attack the branches and nuts causing problems with ut production. Since they are living in the gall on the leaf they are hard to control. They may make the tree look bad but will not kil the tree. Any control will need to be done as the leaves break their buds in the early spring--this is the time the insect is not yet in the gall and can be easliy treated.
