QuestionHi.. We live in the Four Corners Area, which is where CO,Ut,AZ and NM meet... the soil is mostly sandy and mixed with a little bit of sheep manure.. it is being watered at least 3 times a week which i told her is way too much for a willow.. also the water they are using comes from a well that only dispenses salt water.. the leaves of the plant is turning yellow with dead ends on one side of the plant and the other side is still green.. what are the possible reasons why this is happening and what can we do to help the plant recover? thanks for your help.. tamra
AnswerIf the water is salty it will cause the tree to turn yellow and start to die. Also a concentration of fresh manure can also burn the tree cuasing the leaves to turn. I would stop watering the tree with any salty water and water each week during dry periods with about 1 inch of water--put a pan under the tree when sprinking and when the pan has 1 inch of water in it stop.
