Question
Jim, I have a white birch tree in front my house that is starting to grow against the house.It's about 25 ft. tall.
i was thinking of taking about 5ft. or so off the top and also tmim the rest out. Iwish I had kept it trimed down before but too late now.What is your advice? Angelo Disera

You can do that but it will not look too pretty the best you will have is a bush. If the tree is a problem in that location I would remove it and replace it with a smaller type tree. or plant. If the trunk is not close to the house you could just cut the branches off that are toward the house to keep them from rubbing on the house and the tree would still have the tree like appearance from the fron. Cutting the top out will either kill the tree or make a bush.
