QuestionHi Jim,
I am looking to purchase a White Dogwoood Cornus florida(Cherokee Princess) for my yard and really like the white flowers that they have in the spring but am finding that all of the dogwoods that I have found in garden centers and nurseries in my area, the flowers are more of an off-white-ish yellow color. Can you tell me if this is natural for them to be this color and if we purchase one, will the color truely be white once it gets established in our yard? Also, are there other factors which contribute to the coloring of a dogwood, such as acidity, etc...?
I really appreciate your feedback. The dogwoods are in bloom right now and would like to pick one up when I can see what the bloom looks like before purchasing one.
Regards,
Mike

AnswerPick one that is resistance to dogwood anthracnose. A good white dogwood is Kousa Dogwood. Keep them growing healthy and they should be white enough. here is a web link to dogwood growing. http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/foresthealth/pubs/dogwood/r8-fr14/r8-fr14.htm
