Question
I am sure this isn't your normal question but I have a tree that keep on branching out from the base of it.  I trim it back and I get more.  
Is there anyway to stop this from happening?  I am getting so many branches it looks more like a bush.

There is not anything that can be sprayed on the sprouts (called suckers) to stop their production. As the tree gets older and limbs will shade out the base and the sprouting will stop, until that time the best thing is to keep pruning these off. Here is a web link that discribes this:
