Questionhi jim
i have a blue spruce growing in my front garden, in england, that is over 30ft tall and 18ft from my house. my neighbour thinks its a danger, i'm not sure to what or who, but he thinks it needs pruning. is this a good idea? if so, when, how and by how much? and what are the long term effects?
i have known this tree since it was a twig, so we are pretty close. sob
can you help
mick
AnswerDo not prune the spruce! If the spruce has a full thick looking foliage then there is no danger of the tree falling or limbs falling. I would do nothing to the spruce--pruning will be costly and make the tree look in my opinion bad--not to count the chance of fungi entering the pruning wounds and causing health problems to the tree. As long as the tree is healthy I would enjoy it and not prune because a "neighbor thinks something".
