I have a lindonberry tree that is very healthy and bears alot of lindonberries. I am moving and want to try and grow this tree at my new house. I cut a small branch off of it today and put it in water. My hope is to have it root.
Can you help?
I live in New England. Thanks
Answer -
Joanie,
Unfortunately placing cutting in water only works for houseplants, woody branches will not root in this manner.
Sorry
THANKS.
HOW CAN I TAKE A PIECE OF THIS TREE AND ROOT IT?
AnswerJOANIE,
TAKE A CUTTING THAT IS NOT YET WOODY, ABOUT 6" LONG. DIP THE CUT END IN ROOTING HORMONE AVAILABLE AT YOUR LOCAL GARDEN CENTER. STICK THE CUT END IN A POT WITH MOIST POTTING MEDIA, NOT BAGGED TOP SOIL. COVER WITH A CLEAR PLASTIC BAG AND PLACE IN INDIRECT LIGHT. CHECK THE MEDIA MOISTURE WEEKLY AND WATER IF FEELS DRY OR YOU DONOT SEE CONDENSATION ON THE BAG. IF THE CUTTING ROOTS IT MAY TAKE UP TO 8 WEEKS, SO BE PATIENT.
GOOD LUCK
