Question
My parents will soon be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary and my sister and I are wracking our brains to come up with a special gift.  I was thinking about planting a tree in their honor and knowing that the 40th anniversary is marked by the Ruby, I was wondering if there was a tree with Ruby in its title or a tree that flowered ruby colored flowers or leaves.  Any suggestions would be greatly apprepciated!  Thanks

You are in luck.  There is a nice ornamental maple called Acer campestre 'Royal Ruby' or Ruby Royal Hedge Maple.  You will need to go to your local garden center and see if they can order one for you.  I do not have a source so trust your local folks.
