QuestionWe know there is no hope for our mountain ash, most of it is dead. There are only a few branches with buds. what ever is killing it is in the main trunk. There is alot of white crusty spots all over the dead areas (maybe dried sap?)and what appears to be cankers. It may possibly be fireblight, throught the winter some leaves and berries remained on the tree. How do we properly remove the tree to stop the spread of this problem? Do all the roots need to be removed? Thanks for your help.
AnswerNatalie,
It sounds like your tree was infected with fireblight. Contact a certified arborist to safely remove the tree and consult with them about replacements suitable for your area.
Good luck
