Question
I have 4 very tall rotted about 3 feet from the bottom of the trees.  We were quoted $2500 and $4000 from 2 different places.  I think these prices are a little steep.  Do you have any experience in this?

PS - These trees have have to come down b/c within the next 3 years they will fall.  Thank you.

Taking trees down is quite expensive. Before I would do this I suggest you contact the local State Forestry Agency (assuming you are in the US) and ask one of their Foresters to come out and look at the trees and advise whether they need to come down or not. This is a free service that Forestry Agencies will provide. Most of these agencies have an Urban Forester who is trained in this area. The other suggestion would be contact your Insurance agent and ask them if you can file the cost on your insurance OR do you have to wait until the trees fall on your house causing much more expense to the Insurance.
