QuestionI have a large (2ft diameter), tall (40ft trunk) straight oak tree on my suburban property that is beginning to die. Any chance of my finding a wood mill that would take it away for free (or cheap) in exchange for the wood? Or is my only option for removal to pay a tree service $1500+ to take it down in pieces and discard it?
AnswerWell it will all depend on the location of the tree -close to the house and/or power lines, small town versus a large town, etc. If you are in the US I would suggest you look in your local phone book for the State Forestry Angency and call them and ask if they know the name of a local logger who might cut the tree.
