Question
we have a tree that has very bright red leaves and with seven point leaves...is not notched like a maple leaf, but more like having seven fingers..fanned out like a hand...it kept it's red leaves until we had our first snow and then all of the leaves fell. Like I stated very bright red leaves.. We are in Missouri if that helps any. Any and all information appreciated. thanks

I am going to assume from your description you have a Sweet Gum.  These trees will have fall color ranging from red to dark purple to yellow and these colors will vary tree to tree.  

There are maples out there that have multiple lobes that could match your description.
