QuestionI have an autumn blaze maple that does not seem to have the red fall color I expected. I bought the tree from a reputable local nursery 3 years ago. The leaves just seem to die around the edges and have a dull green, maybe slightly yellow (but not really look). Is there something that I need to do?
AnswerTrudy,
Many times when a tree is drought stressed the expression of fall color is suppressed. There is nothing you can do for this year. Make sure this tree is well watered, even going into this winter, and this should help. Your tree is still very young and has not developed a mature root system yet that will help with water gathering.
Good luck
