Questionhi jim,
i am considering buying a tall green weeping beech tree. it is 40-50mm size however the roots are in a 10gallon plastic container. although the plant appears to be healthy i am concerned about the success it will have growing once planted in the ground since the root ball is so small compared to the tree. what do you think about this?
thanks.

AnswerThe size you discribed will not be a problem IF you plant it during the Fall or early Spring AND plant it in a large hole. The planting hole should be at least twice the size of the root ball and fill the hole with potting soil, mulch and water. Ofcourse take the root ball out of the plastic container.
