QuestionHi Nick I'm asking you this question as I saw you sort of addressed this concern in an earlier post. I have a 3 trunk King Palm. I planted from a 36" box around 4 yrs ago. Recently the largest of the 3 is producing brown dead fronds when it unravels. The other 2 palms are green and lush. It gets proper watering and nothing is restricting the trunks. I've given the palms some food as well. Any thoughts on why 1 of the palms is now producing dead fronds.
AnswerHi Jack, Palms grow as single specimens,,,they are often grown in triads or duos for effect, but they are still individual, that said, tug on the crown of the declining one..if it pulls right out then it has succumbed, probably to a fungal infection (difficult without seeing it..). If it holds tight, spray the entire crown (the other two also.) with a Copper fungicide and repeat on a Monthly basis. If the individual does end up failing,,,then cut it at the base and the other two will do just fine. Nick
