QuestionI had 5 large Cuban Royals transplanted from a field (black muck around Lake Okeechobee) to my home. All are steaked and have a watering berm. All have 5'-7' of wood. They have been in at least 6-7 weeks. My soil is all clay and very dense. My problem is the shoots come up new, on a regular basis, but most frizzle and or turn brown after a few days. I run my bubblers on each tree 2 x per day for 7 minutes to fill the berm. Am I over watering considering the dense soil? Would you recommend I cut back or continue what I have been doing? I was told they could take 6-12 months to take hold and look very healthy again.
What would you recommend?
Thanks.
AnswerHi John,,,,they do need to be watered every day for about 3 weeks and then you can begin to cut back, (skip watering the day we get a storm)..as long as they were planted correctly (not even a couple of inches too deep..) then they should eventually begin to shake off the stress of transplanting. Just hang in there with them , theres not much more you can do,,,they won't need nutrients for Months. Nick
