Bungalow Palm Tree

Question
Hi Nick, I have purchased 4 twin bungalow palms, 1 triple bungalow and 1 Majestic palm. I have planted in the front Northely yard the 3 bungalows along a timber fence and the Majestic along a brick wall. I have planted the triple Bungalow in the open in front of the property approx 2 meter in good soil with some fertilizer and organic mulch. All the palms along the fence and wall look great and nice and green. The triple bungalow though especially the mature fonts at my disappointment and concern are going yellow and some smaller turning to brown that i have trimmed of.
The palms where planted approx 3 weeks ago and are approx 8ft in height. I have been watering once a week the weather just finished Autumn and our temperatures have been high 19c low 12c(70f/54f) occassional light rain. Can you please provide some advice, would be appreciated. Thank you.

Answer
Hi James, there is something you did with the triple that you did not do with the others, this is obvious, so you need to compare notes and anything at all that might be different, the soil base, the care etc. must be analyzed, and most importantly,,,the dept you planted it! it may be set to deep, even several inches will begin a stress period, where the Palm will begin to decline. It is wise not to ever augment soil where a plant in general is planted, but rather make it adjust to the existing soil base; it is fine to add a layer of mulch along the top and augment the same area with some rich compost, but not in the hole itself. The triple is stressed from something at its base, again, too much water may be collecting or it may be to deep....check this out and let me know!...Nick
