pheonix roebelinii

Question
QUESTION: i have a pheonix roebelinii plant which we bought last summer -- its probally about 3ft tall at the moment and about 3 foot spread, its in a large pot about 40cm i think, but we didnt get it indoors b4 the weather went to cold but it has been in since christmas, in a conservatry, (unheated - apart from a small radiator which keeps the frost at a minimum - so not freezing freezing out there but still can be cold at times) but by the time we brought it in the leaves have gone brown --- is it dead or is there anything we can do to try and rescue it-- at the base of the leaves/fronds its still got some green on some of them--- i wondered if we cut them all back if it would regrow new ones ??? etc any ideas??? please help --- i can send a photo if its needed.
man thanks for any suggestions

ANSWER: Hi Aleasha, the rule of thumb on Palms is,,,a gentle pull at the center frond will determine whether the Palm is still alive or not; if it pulls out,,,then it is probably Kaput...but even then, by spraying the center with a Copper fungicide, you may yet salvage it. If the center frond holds firm,,,still spray it down with Copper, this will prevent any fungal infection from exacerbating the situation. From this point on,,,it is a waiting game,,,which can sometimes take Months to determine thumbs   up or down....be patient and hope for a new emerging , healthy frond from the center Heart. Nick

ps it wouldnt let me attach 2 photos. so ive just sent the one

Answer
It looks like it is planted to deep!...this will assuredly spell its demise...it should be at the same level it was in its original container. Even a couple of inches will slowly kill many plants if they are submerged above the junction of the roots and trunk...it definitely is stressed badly!...it needs full Sunlight and moderately damp with good drainage.
