QuestionI have a massangeanas. I have had it for over 5 years it came in a basket with 7 other plants. They were all just babies. I replanted it seveal times. The last being late summer 2011, it was leaning over. It is about 3 foot tall. Well in the last month. The leaves are turning yellow and brown on the tips. So I replanted it (last week)thinking the pot was too small. I dont believe I put the pebbles in the bottom of this one. I realize the plant has to go thru the shock stage but shes not getting better. More leafs are turning yellow. I also didnt change all the soil I left part of the old soil from the the end of the summer change over. The size pot its in now is about 16 by 16 inches. Is it too soon or how soon can I make the correct replanting? Same pot just completly fresh soil?
AnswerIt sounds like a lack of humidity, the moistened pebbles need to be added and new soil needs to be added; often a root ball can become compacted, and even when you repot them, the soil around the root ball itself will prevent water from reaching the roots,,and when you water,,it simply runs down and around the root ball,,,and out the drainage holes. Mist the leaves every day, this will help simulate humidity also.
