Passion fruit

Question
Hello

Last month I purchased two passion vines, one edulis flavicarpa and a hybrid edulis, and planted them in full sun in a mixture of potting soil, ironite and 20-20-20 osmacote as recommended by the seller.  They were good sized plants at around a foot and a half tall.

They don't seem to be growing at all despite watering every other day but also don't appear to be dying although some of the old growth on the smaller of the two is starting to lose  its dark green color.  There are no pests and whatever new growth there appears to be is very small and not at all vigorous like I was led to believe.

What could I do?

Mike

Answer
Hi Mike, the fact that they are not dying is the key, many plants take time to set their roots and acclimate to new surroundings, and patience is the key in these situations; we all want instantaneous results and immediate signs of growth, but often its just not the case. Keep a vigilant watering schedule, (not wet feet however!) and try a half strength dose of Miracle-Grow or Peters at your next watering. You will come out one morning and see new growth commencing and then within a week, you will see signifcant growth and once Passion vines take hold,,then watch out! because they will explode! Nick
