QuestionMy Ponytail Palm recently went through Tucson"s worst cold weather in current history. The "foot" part is approximately 7.5 inches in diameter and it had a fairly thin (silver dollar?)sized part where the fronds come out of, sorry don't know the real name for that. The fronds rotted because of the freeze so I ended up having to cut the "trunk" (?) and rotting part off. This "trunk" part is 15" long and is now sprouting in 12 different places. My question is how many of them do I let continue to grow? I have already pinched 5 sprouts off. Are these sprouts babies, propagated like the Pregnant Onion?
Thank you so much for your time!

AnswerYes, these are new growth that will develop into its new fronds; let them all grow and then when they are really developed you can then excise the lower ones and allow the crown to fill out again....be patient and let nature take its course, then you will have a clearer picture of what to do in order to get your Pony Tail back to where it was before the freeze.
