QuestionI have a double foxtail palm that had sustained some frost damage. The smaller arm of the tree has not produced any new growth for several months and the three branches that are still there are now dying off. The larger trunk is doing fine. Someone suggested that maybe the smaller trunk needs to be removed but it still looks healthy. Is there anything I can do to stimulate new growth?
AnswerNot much you can do but keep the root system properly irrigated and fertilized (3 times a year at a rate of about 3lbs each time spread evenly around the trunk and watered in..).., the stressed one will either eventually send out new growth or continue to decline, if it does decline to the point where the crown collapsed, then it needs to be cut at the base and removed; this will not harm the healthy one.
