QuestionQUESTION: Hi. I live in Port Charlotte and have had bad luck with this past winter (as everyone has). I lost 2 small Royals and 1 and 1/2 Christmas Palms. My question is that my triple palm has one stalk that made it. Do i just trim the dead stalks to the ground or will it damage the remaining living stalk? Thanks..
ANSWER: Hi!...I live there too!....You can cut the two dead ones at soil level and then just cover them lightly with mulch to hide them; the other one should do fine, but it will look a little unbalanced.

QUESTION: How ironic! Do you suggest that I pull it out completely then?? What's a good local nursey for palms, since you live in town?!
Answer..actually, most people that keep the one specimen do end up pulling them, because of the inbalance; Cortez has some good specimens, they are up near the bridge on the Port Charlotte side, on the southbound side of 41. There is another down on Taylor road in Punta Gorda, I think they are called the Growing grounds or growing something...lol.
