QuestionHEllO---Help! I recently replanted a corn plant ,( which is indoors) to a larger pot .and I used moisture retaining potting soil . after planting, I watered the plant., with intentions of letting the soil dry out completly before watering again. unfortunitly-- that same evening - another individual, again watered the same plant. sufficiently.. the corn plant now has leafs drouping drasticly! and shriveling and turning yellow! dying --I suspect. Can you tell me of anything I can do to try and save it?
AnswerHi Jamie, get it out of that container and replant it in new soil (or the same soil, but after its dry..)..the key here is to give those roots a chance to dry out somewhat and hopefully, rot won't have set in. Corn plants are pretty resilient, so it may have just shocked and will recover, if you give it a chance, by drying its feet to a degree where it is just damp, but don't let it go bone dry , that can be just as bad,...lift it out of the container, put in new soil, place the damp root system back in the new soil, and then leave it be for awhile in a shady area, where it will recover , when you see new growth starting, then water properly from there on in, in the mean time, just keep the soil from going completely dry, so the roots are hydrated but not wet.Nick
